Merino Possum Knitwear

This section of our Merino Possum knitwear accessories has been hand picked by us. These items are made out of Possum fur (40%) and Merino wool (50%) and Nylon (10%). This knitwear feels silky smooth and is extremely warm and snuggly. Everybody in the store has something on this page at home to help keep them warm over the winter. Choose something at your leisure. Possum fur is so smooth but it is also very short. One of the reasons you will never find a garment made only from Possum fur is because the fur is so short it cannot be weaved by itself, but it does blend perfectly with the popular merino sheeps wool to create the accessories below.

One of the tremendous advantages of buying Merino Possum Knitwear instead of many other types of knitwear is two-fold. Possum knitwear is remarkably light compared to any other knitwear. At first you may even hesitate that it will work at all. How could something so light stop the bitter chill of a New Zealand southerly blowing through you. Yet not only is it light but it is incredibly warm. The very fine blend of Possum holds the body warmth in and the blowing southerly gale out. One of the quirky results of using possum knitwear in a hot water bottle or 'hoty bottle' is that the heat is kept inside the hot water bottle cover staying warm for a longer period of time. Kept warm by the possum knitwear cover surrounding it. This same principle applies to all of the accessories range including, gloves, scarves, beanies and socks. Our team operate out of the town of Taupo in the middle of the North Island. The southerly wind can whip over the top of Mount Ruapehu, getting chilled by the snow on the mountain as it travels and then blow through our little town, freezing us all. As a result we know what really works and what doesn't!
Here in New Zealand we are coming to the end of our Autumn, which runs from March through to May. Winter goes from June to August and Spring begins at September and goes through to November. Summer is from December to February.
